Doin' Some Cookin'... Green Cheer Juice

There's something about a green juice that makes me feel so great. I'm sure it's because we're hounded about eating fruits and veggies everyday of our lives and juicing is a delicious way to do so.

My wellness journey continues and I'm currently on day fifteen of my second round of Whole30.

I know, I know. Most people despise doing dishes and now I'm suggesting you not only dirty the juicer but also the blender. Trust me, it's so worth it for this refreshingly creamy green juice. I loved it and so will you.

Doin' Some Cookin'... Bunny Brew

My absolute favorite juices are ones that include beets or carrots. One thing I love about juicing carrots is that it brings out their sweetness. After a trip to Costco I had a ginormous bag of baby carrots that needed to be used so juicing them was the perfect idea.

In this Bunny Brew I juiced carrots with lemon, mint, and pineapple. The pineapple and mint are said to be good for inflammation and digestion. This juice is not overly sweet and it's something I could drink every day. It's so good.

Bunny Brew

  • 7 carrots
  • 1 lemon, peeled and seeded
  • 7 mint leaves
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks

Doin' Some Cookin'... Pineapple, Apple, Mint, and Lime Juice

After watching numerous food documentaries, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead in particular I always think I'd be able to stick with a juice cleanse, "rebooters" attempt 30+ days, but I have never made it past day 2. This Italian loves her carbs and can't give up food, especially the act of chewing. These juice cleanses boast that you could potentially lose a pound a day when exercise is incorporated.

While that seems like an easy fix it's not a lifestyle I could continue. I'm okay with counting calories and fitting in working out with juicing on occasion as a meal substitute.

During my weekly grocery trip to Whole Foods I will grab one bottle each of whatever fresh pressed veggie based juice they have available and substitute one or two meals a day with juice. I have a Breville Juice Fountain but like the convenience of grabbing premade bottles. Who likes doing dishes anyway?

The only time I bust out the juicer is when I come across a new recipe that I have to try.

From the 21 Day Flat Belly Challenge comes this recipe, P.A.M. Juice, for use in a mojito. Mojitos! My happy hour weakness. I never buy liquor for home and didn't have white rum on hand so I left it out. It's just not the same but still tasty in it's own right. It's refreshing, light, and fruity.

While the addition of alcohol would have made this for a tasty cocktail it's not worth the bloat. This juice is a natural de-bloater due to the natural properties of pineapple helping with water retention. All women suffering from PMS symptoms could benefit from this one. AND! If you are PMSing do your loved ones a favor and add that shot of white rum.

Doin' Some Cookin'... Cranberry Cleanse

I'm trying to do things that help with the functionality of my body. I've been eating healthier and making workouts a priority. Outside of seeing some weight loss I'm not noticing any other results yet.  Sometimes I think about how it would be nice to have a view into my body so I can see that eating all of these kale salads is really helping to detoxify my body and that it's not just a placebo effect.

Speaking of detoxing my body, as part of the 21 Day Flat Belly Challenge it was suggested to start the day with a Cranberry Cleanse. Supposedly it provides an energy boost while nourishing the liver, intestines, and kidneys while working to flush the body of accumulated waste.

I can't vouch for the above but I can tell you this concoction isn't too bad to throw back. Just be sure to have that water chaser handy.

Cranberry Cleanse
Makes 1 Serving

Stars of the Show:
  • 4 oz cranberry juice
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • a glass of water as a chaser
And Action:

Combine the cranberry juice, vinegar, and lemon juice together in a glass. Drink the concoction and chase with the glass of water.
